Penton Park Wedding Showcase

Bridal Boot Sale venue and stunning Hampshire wedding venue Penton Park are opening their doors this Sunday 19 July for a unique wedding showcase event, and we think it's most definitely worth a visit!

Penton Park are holding the event alongside Ikonworks Photography, and inviting a whole host of stunning suppliers to the house, to showcase how your big day could look at the house.

Visitors can enjoy a glass of Prosecco on arrival, followed by canapés while perusing the house, which will be set up as it would be for a wedding, giving a chance to see how your ceremony and reception would look. Suppliers of dresses, wedding cake, hair and makeup, flowers, catering and more will all be on hand to speak to, and answer any questions.

As a really unique treat, all suppliers will also be taking part in a styled photo shoot on the day, starting at 2pm, which is such a unique opportunity to see them in action, creating some beautiful images. The team that will be there on the day came together to create the beautiful images in this post, so you'll definitely be in for a treat!

The event runs from 11am-3pm, and entrance is free. Brides and Grooms can contact Penton Park to book an appointment for a formal tour of the venue, or just turn up on the day to look around at their leisure and speak to the Penton Park team.

Introducing Daydream Bridal

We caught up with Amy from Daydream Bridal to find out more about how she started her bridal accessories business. Daydream Bridal will be joining us at the Bridal Bazaar, this Sunday at East Horton Golf Club.

I started making jewellery when my now husband and I moved to Poole Quay and were a hop, skip and a jump from a small bead shop. Always keen to learn new crafts, I promptly bought half the shop and scoured the internet for tutorials on creating pretty things! One of the items I bought from the shop was a plain tiara or headband base - that was the start of it all!

After a while perfecting beaded tiaras, I started using vintage brooches and earrings in my designs and then started selling them online. I was surprised by the huge positive reaction I got from my pieces and Daydream Bridal was born.

Introducing Fiori by Lynne

We're delighted to welcome our floral sponsor for the Bridal Bazaar at East Horton Golf Club on 17th May. Fiori by Lynne will be providing floral displays around the venue, and helping the What Peggy Did Next team create the inspiration station.

We'll let Lynne introduce herself and her business, and hear a little about her inspirations, and top tips for a smooth running wedding day! Over to you Lynne...

My business was set up in 2005, I work full time on Weddings and Events only but of all shapes and sizes for the Hampshire area and a little beyond. Not running a shop along side it leaves me free to focus 100% on my customers. I offer a completely bespoke and exceptionally personal service, I specialise in and absolutely love helping brides find their own individual  floral style and then creating the designs that express them perfectly. I made the London and South East Regional final of The Wedding Industry Awards for 2014 as a result of the scores and feedback from my 2014 brides and after  after being nominated by one of them.

The last place you visited that has inspired you?

I have just returned from a trip to Seville. It is a beautiful city and a World Heritage site as a result of it’s  stunning artcitecture - a beautiful but amazing mix of styles and influences spanning 1200 years. Everything from roman ruins to Contemporary architecture, the overall look is of a period city but it has a very vibrant young energy which I love. All the effortlessly chic tapas bars serving the most mouthwatering and creative dishes help. If anyone needs any more reason to visit, it’s shopping is fantastic, the Spanish are an exceptionally stylish lot ! There is an infinite amount of inspiration to be found here, I love the effect of the mix of styles and influences, it proves that if done well you can mix styles that perhaps you would not expect to see together to great effect. ( As in Kortney’s black tie - Ralph Lauren wedding at the very rustic and shabby chic Pig)

What brand do you really admire?

I admire Apple for it’s constant innovation (and beautiful looking computers!)

Tell us about a wedding brand you are really impressed by?

It is hard to choose one as there are lots of good wedding brands around. I have to love Pronovias, look beyond the obvious and take a look at some of the dresses in their cocktail collection, wonderful if you fancy a bit of colour. Phase Eight too have some amazing dresses for anyone that wants something a bit different.

What are your top three words of advice for brides to be?

I should say Choose suppliers carefully. I would rather say Relax and Enjoy. Both are good pieces of advice and doing the 1st makes the 2nd infinitely easier!

Introducing Glass Oyster

Bridal Accessory designer Glass Oyster will be joining us at The Bridal Bazaar at East Horton Golf Club this weekend. We can't wait to browse their stall full of exquisite designs ranging from jewellery, headpieces and even capelets. We caught up with Gail to find out more...

Glass Oyster designs beautiful bridal accessories such as headpieces and jewellery. Each design is made from beautiful finds such as re-worked lace trims and appliqués, vintage millinery leaves and flowers. All the designs as intricately hand embroidered using a mix of modern and vintage beads - some of these found in antique and bric a brac shops and markets, harvested from old necklaces and beaded purses. Each piece is a complete one off, never to be repeated. Glass Oyster will be introducing an exciting new range of accessories later this year -  including capelets, cover ups and belts.

The last place you visited/travelled to and found really inspiring?

Polesdon Lacey near Dorking, Surrey. A National Trust property with stunning house and grounds. The house is packed full of beautiful paintings, objects d’art, jewellery and furniture. The grounds are full of places to explore.

The last exciting purchase you made for your business?

I havn't purchased it yet, but I’m on the look out for a vintage haberdashers glass topped cabinet to store and display my work in my studio.

Tell us about a wedding brand you think is really exciting?

For me its got to be Joanne Fleming design. Her dresses are so glamorous and intricately detailed. Another favourite is Rue de Seine. I just love how they combine lots of detailing with flowing, effortless shapes.

Any recommendations of places to eat/drink/stay/do in Hampshire or the South?

If you are looking for a relaxing, country get away, you cant beat The Pig Hotel in Brockenhurst, New Forest. A chic hotel with a kitchen garden, beautiful rooms and absolutely amazing food.

Introducing Mia Photography

We're delighted to be welcoming exquisite photographer Mia to her first Bridal Bazaar this weekend. We caught up with her to find out more about how she started her business, her inspirations, and those all important words of wedded advice for brides to be.

Hello! I'm Mia, a Hampshire based wedding photographer. I've been lucky enough to have been doing this wonderful job for many, many years now - in fact, I started so long ago that I actually used to shoot weddings on film - and not by choice! I know how lucky I am to wake up every day and look forward to the working day ahead and appreciate what a rare and wonderful thing that is.

I love all weddings, particularly colourful and creative ones, and have shot all kinds of styles over the years including vintage, rock n’roll, 50’s and festival…you name it! I’ve also been lucky enough to shoot at all kinds of beautiful and interesting venues over the years, from boutique hotels to beaches, in several treehouses, in lovely old barns and more than once in Nan's back garden.

Where is the last place you visited/travelled to and found really inspiring?

My husband and I recently got back from a trip to Gambia which was a pretty crazy experience. I found some of the things we saw there quite life changing, and although I took my camera I really wrestled with myself as a photographer whether to capture what I was seeing in front of me or not.

The last exciting purchase you made for your business?

Two lately! I've recently sold both of my cameras and replaced them with Nikon's new D750 which is the most amazing camera I've ever used. I traded in one of my old ones so used that money to buy the new 50mm Sigma Art lens which I'm extremely excited about using at my next wedding as it's such a beautiful lens.

Another business that really inspires you?

My logo (which I love!) was designed for me by the super talented Sera from papermagpie.co.uk. She does all of my art work and printing - her style is kitsch and quirky and always so colourful. I love working with her because she's always so quick to reply and professional - she does amazing wedding stationery too, check her out!

What would be your top 3 words of wisdom for brides-to-be?

My top 3 words of wisdom for any bride would be: Unique, Trust, Enjoy.

Unique: It's your day, do it your way! Don't get sucked into doing things for the sake of it or because you think you have to. Don't want to have a first dance? Don't! Don't want to spend money on favors? Don't! You only get to (hopefully) do it once so although it's important to try to keep family members happy, don't feel you have to compromise on everything if you feel strongly on something.

Trust: Trust that you've booked a good photographer to capture your day and let them do their thing! Although we love to hear ideas from our clients the best work I've produced is when I've been free to tell the story of your day as it unfolds around me, rather than trying to recreate other photographer's work you may have seen already done on Pinterest. Lets come up with new ideas together!

Enjoy: Just love the day and dance like nobodies watching. They will be...because you're the bride, but try to ignore that fact :)

Introducing Cocoa Feliz

Here at the Bridal Bazaar HQ we'll admit to something of a sweet tooth...so you can imagine how excited we are to have chocolatier Cocoa Feliz exhibiting with us at East Horton Golf Club. Cocoa Feliz are an independent chocolatier who can create unique individual favors from a range of over 100 organic chocolate truffles! Sound pretty delicious to us! We caught up with the team to find out more about them, and what to expect from their stall at the Bridal Bazaar...

We are continuing to expand our range of organic handmade chocolate truffles to include over 150 different chocolates, so everyone can find their favourite chocolate! This year, at the Bridal Bazaar, we are introducing some new truffles which are perfect for celebrations, including, brandy, whisky and, of course, champagne (come along on Sunday and try a sample before we run out!). These will be available for favors, wedding party gifts, table centrepieces or to complement your catering. Or if you want a really special chocoholic experience, our experienced staff will provide a chocolate counter at your event, to make you and your guests feel really pampered.

We are also increasing the choice of wedding favor boxes, so not only can you can choose the chocolates for your favors, but you can choose the favor boxes which perfectly match your special day.

We started making chocolates as we couldn't find delicious chocolates which matched our dietary requirements, and we think everyone should be able to enjoy fabulous chocolate; if you or your guests have any dietary requirements, just let us know, because we will make your chocolates to order!

When we get a rare moment away from making chocolates, we love dancing, and walking in the New Forest or along the coast. Salsa beach party, anyone?!

Make sure you stop and see Cocoa Feliz on Sunday. Doors open at 11am!
