Wedding Photographer Lydia Stamps shares her inspiration and what you can expect at the next Bridal Boot Sale!
We are very excited to announce the return of award winning wedding photographer Lydia Stamps to the Wiltshire Bridal Boot Sale on Sunday 28th September at The Manor Barn. We caught up with Lydia to see what she has been getting up to of late and to also chat about her fab new website!
Can you give us a couple of examples of fab wedding DIY you've seen this season?
I did an amazing Mexican inspired wedding, this summer, the décor was amazing and featured cactuses and the most awesome colourful florals. The bride had handmade chair cushions which were wedding favours (I’m loving sitting on mine in the office!) and as part of her hen do she and the hens had also made handmade piñatas which went down really well with kids and adults, it was a great activity to do during the drinks reception, and a little bit different to the usual lawn games!
As a photographer, you get to shoot some amazing wedding venues - if you could name just a few, which are you favourites in the South?
I absolutely love Larmer Tree Gardens, a Victorian pleasure gardens hidden in the Dorset countryside. It’s so unusual and stunningly beautiful, with a million location options for photos. I always get so excited when an enquiry comes in for a Larmer Tree wedding! I also love Clock Barn, in Whitchurch Hampshire. I’m lucky enough to be one of their recommended vendors and I shoot there a few times a year but never get bored. The barn itself has so much rustic charm- it doesn’t need any additional decoration to look beautiful. And it’s surrounded by rolling countryside and spots perfect for relaxed couples’ shots.
We all love bridal style - have you seen any trends emerging this summer?
I think separates are coming back in a big way, and I think this will only be aided by the super stylish casual bridal look Olivia Palermo put together. Every girl loves that effortless chic ‘I just threw this on’ look, and separates are the perfect way to work that, be it a cardy or denim jacket thrown on over your dress in the evening, bridesmaid’s in 50s skirts, or billowing tulle skirts with cute little vests this is a style movement I can totally get behind!
What can visitors to the Wiltshire Bridal Boot Sale expect from the Lydia Stamps stand on 28th September?
Well, I’ll be there to chat weddings with you. People often ask if I ever get bored of weddings, and I really don’t! I still love it all, and I never tire of wedding chat! Over the years I’ve managed to gather a wealth of wedding knowledge in terms of logistically what works, as well as knowing the very best wedding suppliers in the area, so I’m always happy to talk through ideas and give you recommendations. Even if you’ve booked your photographer already I love it when people stop to watch my photo slideshow to get a hit of wedding pretty or get inspiration for their day. Of course I’ll also have more information on hand about my service and samples of my wedding albums and I’ll be running a competition to win a big, beautiful framed print too!
We see you’ve recently rebranded and launched a beautiful new website what can you tell us about the thinking behind it?
This is a really exciting time for me, after years of shooting weddings I’m really proud to have won awards and made a name for myself within the wedding industry. I’m really lucky to be in a position where I’m in demand, and 2015 is almost fully booked and I’m making the move to shooting weddings on a more exclusive basis. I decided it was time for my brand to have a little refresh to reflect that. I sought out one of the best web designers in the world, who specialises in wedding photographer’s branding and websites. I wanted something that would allow my personality to shine through and help me stand out from the crowd; as well as reflecting that my brand and service is now a more of a high end, luxe product. The new logo and website is completely individual, and has a more of an elegant feel, while maintaining the quirky, creative personality which has been at the centre of the branding all along. It incorporates elements of all my favourite things- turquoise, calligraphy, postage stamps (stamps- get it?!) and glitter! I love it, and it’s been met with great feedback so far!
